This is my cage for peices, It is 2 ft by 2 ft by 4 feet with a 1.3 square foot hole in the side and a 6inch by 14 inch hole in bottom has a ficus and umbrella im using a megaray uvb 5.0 for water proof i lined with linoleum tiles and cocked shut. plexiglas door..... also keep in mind im in toronto canada it is as dry and cold as you can get here ( thats why no mesh) when im home i leave the door open for fresh air so i can still monitor his heat. THeres my little guy hes only about 4-6 months i think....

not bad man, what do you have for UV, as for your heat lamp spot lamps can burn plants and chameleons pretty easy, maybe give some more room imbetween them, not sure how much there is now but looks like a small gap....

looks good though..

here is my closet i made into a cham cage in case your curious, https://www.chameleonforums.com/att...10097d1237507965-update-question-imag0002.jpg i could never cram enouph stuff into 2x2x4 spaces, but its what i originally built, so eventually i went huge 7ftx5ftx3.75

so do you have a tube florecent if not its all i sudjest, a 24" or bigger reptisun 5.0 tube, compact or incadecent lighting is not proven to be in near as effective according to these professional forumers... but yeah from your pic my cham could touch your spot lamp and thats not good screen it or get it father away someday itll touch it mine climbs on mine now and it really is 12" from anything...

sooo far he has not even gone close this is just my winter bulb i live in a 1950's brick bungalow.... in canada.... its not the warmest house so i use the power of this is winter then come summer time im gunna get a 24" tube and smaller heat bulb....( we have air cond but we rarley use it..) also he cant reach the bulb to touch it... thats why i decided against vines.... i also never see him bashing in the same place.... every day a new stick.... new posision.... some times even lyes far away fromn it flat on his side and with his bodie as flat as possible.

i use a tube for UV and a 60w normal bulb for basking, try this and youll be set for life is all i meant and can swap the 60w for whatever you want at anytime its just a normal bulb...

the thing also about the light in the enclosure is my plants are not fully grown yet and if i bright the light out...... then the basking range is too far i need my plants to grow..... then this summer i will re mount it on the out side.,....

Nice enclosure :)

160w bulb? Is that not too hot for your cham? I agree with Brad, I wouldn't be comfortable having the light inside. Right now your cham may not reach it or have tried to but there may come a time he does.

I understand when you say it's cold...I live in Alberta and believe me we can go from -30 to +15 in a day....wind always....so keeping temps & humidity proper is a constant daily check. I find my plants grow very well with the grow lights & uvb, but too much heat just kills them.

if your plants need the light source then get a dome reflector, and use a spot specific light for them. you have to ask yourself whats more improtant my plants, or my cham? im pretty sure that question should comeout with you saying cham. if you have to have it in there you need to block it off. i honestly suggest taking the top and redoing it with mesh. heat does rise your right, but you can block it of if need be, and then you can use correct lighting fixtures so you dont hurt your cham.
