Classic veiled attitude!
He’s beautiful!! I Finally got him to come out after a month and a half! Tonight is a big night here!! LOL
That’s what I’m hoping for! But unfortunately as soon as I put him back he ran fast on one of his branches... i went to adjust another branch he hissed and practically jumped off and went into one of the plants ??Well done!! My boy still rarely comes out on his own. He despises me. Ive had him for a year on the 6th
Just go at his pace and your boy should warm up just fine. Every veiled (any chameleon for that matter) is different though.
Having a trusting chameleon makes vet visits, general inspection, and cage cleans, (anything requiring their removal from the enclosure) a lot easier and less stressful for both you and him.![]()
I could tell earlier he wanted to come out while I was cleaning up in there because he kept walking towards the door so then I kind of push the issue he came out but when he went back in he was just as miserable ??That’s what I’m hoping for! But unfortunately as soon as I put him back he ran fast on one of his branches... i went to adjust another branch he hissed and practically jumped off and went into one of the plants ??.... baby steps! Haha
I do the same thing! I heard it from a youtube channel called @reptiliangardenYeah don't push it when he's just starting to trust you. He will get there
Handfeeding is a great way to build trust without them having to come out of the enclosure. Then once he is doing well with that you can slowly hold the feeder farther away so to get it he has to walk onto your hand, or place an arm or two on your hand. It's important that you don't take him away from the enclosure after this in the beginning, just let him go back into the cage if he pleases. Once he is better with coming onto your hand you can try and start taking him to a free range spot, or outside for some sun. Then he should start associating you with good things.
