I did not think it was inappropriate . I have a 13 year old . Thought it was cute . Sorry @rombonerzilla does seem your taking a hit tonight . Your boy is a beauty nevertheless and I don't think he's looking starved .

I added an explanation point to my derogatory word.... but I must be in the wrong. Either way I'm not trying to be right/wrong or stir the cham pot. But I am a firm believer that kids should be monitored and watched enough so that this stuff isn't an issue. Personally I look before they look, just like in a road. This is a road. But I do regret using the word d!ck
 
BTW the fighting a bear and on the phone with God comments are from a comedy skit you can find on YouTube. It's hilarious! Just look up spooby and you can laugh at it all yourself. But before you let your children watch and listen hear it yourself. This big Web thingy we all use now(like a big ole road with a ton of intersections) has way worse things to worry about then any posts on here(they have respectable people monitoring it and I find that enough policing to not go all rogue citizen cop). But seriously look up spooby and have a laugh on me it's the best 6 or 7 minutes you will spend all tomorrow. And thank you for the love I got from the people who didn't find this to be a serious post or knew the way chams can be. Yes there not domesticated and they don't give a damn about us i know lol. But look up spooby on YouTube (if your over 18) this is 2016. And it's not like I twerked on my cham.... there's a ton of twerking out there hide your kids hide your wife:D:ROFLMAO: and have a good night mwah

If young children have access to a computer with internet they have seen, read and heard way worse than the word 'dick'.

I agree this forum should be a source of information and not a source of bad language and bull...
But at the same time a little bit of fun and laughs doesn't hurt anybody and keeps this forum extra fun to keep comming back to, even if the language is sometimes not PG3.

In this day and age, we have to be especially careful of what we write because of how it can be interpreted. Your joking might be quoted by someone as a guide to others on how to successfully train chameleons by starvation.

There is so much in your post I find disturbing starting with how common and acceptable it is in this society to insult and berate those nearest and dearest to having a poor understanding of the very nature of chameleons.

You would never call a fish the names you are calling your chameleon because you have no expectations that your pet fish will ever behave like a poodle. You know deep in your heart, your fish is not going to give you love. You can train it; it might swim eagerly to the glass when it sees you and follow you around from inside its aquarium, but you will never go on a web site and claim it is a butthole or that it loves you.

Certainly you can train a chameleon and they can learn to be less wary of you, but in general most chameleons simply tolerate humanity.
 
@rambonerzilla I thought your post was funny- I have adult chams and feed every other day. I definitely notice that they are more into human interaction on food day! As to the name calling, l love my animals dearly but have been known to call dogs, cats, chickens, tortoises, turtles, hamsters, geckos, chameleons, even 4 year olds (under my breath, not to her face) an a-hole on occasion. :) The husband I usually just flip off as soon as he turns his back...
 
A suggestion...to give the more straight-laced of us a heads up that something is meant to be less than serious, remember there are smilies you can use to give tone to your posts. I'll fully admit to being a product of an earlier generation that doesn't toss out terms like that very often. I've also had to deal with pretty horrible pet owners who called their animals names like that but meant it. That's what you get for working with rescues and animal control.
 
Humor is great on the forums! (Just for the record, so is sarcasm ;)(y)) The only issue is that humor doesn't always translate well in text. As @Carlton stated, that is where the smilies can work, but even then it may not be perfect. I have on a few occasions been known to use some, slight, almost unnoticeable, minuscule, not even worth mentioning sarcasm, and a few times had to say sorry and explain the situation. (Some people don't get my humor, go figure :rolleyes:)

If a post is going to be questionable, some "warning" should be evident in the title. (I'm not sure if this thread had the most "Family Friendly" title, but I've been entertained a bit :))

There is some definite truth to this, but I will say that in the past I have called some of my fish names :D. (I'm also guilty of calling my veiled a few choice words for not doing what I want him to do. Usually its right after I get another great blurry photo for the monthly contest :rolleyes:)
