Smelly poop

I know this is common with parasites and I need to get fecal examination. My vet won't let me bring it in bc he says he needs to get a fresh sample. Everything I have read says you can bring in a sample and it will work just fine. there is no reason to stress my boy out for no reason, so does anyone, particularly you vets, have an opinion about what I should do? In addition to stress, the exam will run $60 in addition to the $30 fecal exam. Is it worth fighting the vet to get him to let me just bring in a sample?

He said the reason is bc there is a certain parasite that leaves the feces soon after the bowel movement so he needs to examine a fresh sample right out of the Cham. Has anyone ever heard of this? Are they just b.s.ing me so that I have to pay for the exam?

most vets prefer to see the cham for a few reasons they may be able to spot something that could indicate a reason for the issue as well as they usually can not give any meds with an actual exam of the animal.
with your original question I have taken in fecal sample before and never been told I had to have the cham there for the actual pooping just that the sample needs to be as fresh as possible.
