Sleeping during the day?

So I have had my Chemeleon for 3 days not and today is the first day I noticed him sleeping during the day, probebly for like 45 min. Temp is 74 to 78 hum 90% I mist 3 to 4 times a day, I have seen him eat and drink and go potty. He is active, However I do see him upside down on the top of the screen under the UVB a lot.

I answered your pm. Your uvb is good if it is the Reptiglo. Your ambient is good but your basking temp you might try lowering about 5 degrees but using a less wattage bulb like a 40. See if that doesn't help.

yeah it is a reptiglo, and I dimmed the basking are some. Ill get get a 40 watt as well. kinda confusing jumping to pm and then here. Ill post on here for now on....lol

you mean 90% constant? You need some type of fluctuation. I keep my humidity around 60% and then when I mist the cage it will spike to about 75 or so. I live in Florida and the humidity outside her is much higher and my chameleon spends almost all day out there everday when I am home and he does just fine in the warm humid climate we have here. He is out in the open, fresh air though.BTW I see you live in CA, I would be getting my cham out in the natural sunlight every chance I could get Nothing replicates natural UVB, lets face it.

Chem closing his eyes during the day.

lower the basking about 10 degrees. Did you get your cham from Kammerflage? Are you using their dusting schedule?

For the future, a good supplement schedule for you to follow is this: Calcium without d3 every feeding. Calcium with d3 twice a month and a multivitamin twice a month also. Most of us on the forum follow this and we seem to have good success with this. If your cham is not closing his eyes in the basking area, then it obviously is not the basking temp although I still would lower that some as I said. There are times I have read on here where everything in the set up is spot on and the chameleon is still closing his eyes. He could just be getting used to the new lighting. Just give him a few more days and see what happens. it your humdity always that high or does it fluctuate? how do you get it that high?

no its set at 75% now and goes up to about 90 when I mist it. Even as a baby get him out? I will do so however unfortonitly its raining now...lol

sure. i live in Florida and I have taken my chamelon out in the sun here since he was 4 months old. They benefit greatly from it. Just make sure they have shade, water and that you supervise them as they can disappear in the blink of an eye not to mention become an afternoon snack for some bird!!!

he did bask right below the light and yes his eye were closed. I will print out the dusting schedule, Thank you very much. I lowered the Humitidy to stable at 65. I have a reptifogger that goes off to maintain hum, I have it set to high so I lowered it, I had it set to 80 and of course when I mist it goes up.

oh one more thing, that basking light, is it just a regular housebulb?. That is really all you need, just a plain old white bulb. Just thought if it was some special type of basking bulb it might be too strong for his eyes.

carol knows her stuff. if it doesnt work try these.

this is a spot lamp - Zoomed 75watt Basking light. change this out for a regular house bulb.

i would also lose the fogger. the dripper along with your misting will provide sufficient humidity levels.

personally keep your basking temps around 90.

do you have any pictures of your set up?

Good news!!!! So I trimmed my pothos and highered my basking lamp and dimmed it, which brought my temp to 88 basking and my hum to 65 and increased the flow of my drip and today he had not taken a nap at all, matter afact he is more active..... yay! Still monitering to make sure its not a one day thing tho.
