sleeping colors

While sleeping, my nosy be panther chameleons stripe on one side is brown while the other is white. He is a pale blue while sleeping. This is the weirdest thing because I noticed that no matter which way he sleeps, the stripe on the side exposed towards the door of his cage facing the room is brown at night while the other is white. Has anyone ever witnessed this before?

When I have my guys outside I've noticed the side facing the sun will be dark and the other side with be bright. I'll have to check them out at night.
