Sizing DIY Cage

Hey all-

Im going to build a chameleon cage this coming weekend, and was thinking of making it 24" wide, 16" deep, and 48" tall. Is this too small of a floor footprint?

She is currently in a 16.5"x16.5"x30" screened cage...

veileds right? 16" deep is way too shallow, need 24" depth at least. cage i built is 3x2x4' with a 2' base, remember chamys like it high, especially above your eye level.

16" is a bit bare.
I would bump it up to at least 18"
mine is 27"X 18"X 50"

The thing is the dresser I have her on is only 16" deep, would making it wider than 24" help? Or should I have it overhang the dresser for 18"

Making it a little wider would be nice for her.
I think 16" deep is fine for a female veiled.

i think 2" overhang won't be a bad idea.
What about the length? is it gonna fit your dresser?

I don't think 2 inches is going to make much difference to your girl.
I have my female veiled in a 16x17x30 all screen enclosure and she is very happy.
It's nice that you are offering yours more room.

Here is my problem with small enclosures and females:
If the cage is on the small side then where in the world do you put an egglaying container?
Yes, you can put an egg laying container inside of a 16x16 cage, but it will be very small.
I like to plant my cages with one very large plant and maybe a small one.
Usually an umbrella or weeping fig and a palm or potho.
If your plant's pot is 10" then that only leaves room for a 6" wide egg laying container.
If you upgrade to a 18x18 with a female then it makes a big difference.

Back on subject....
I think the 16x24 base would work fine.

i said screw it, bought my female a 24x24x48. needless to say she is very happy she can run and hide from me.

if you can afford bigger, i say go with the bigger one.
