Simulating seasonal changes

Yeah I love the DIY projects or people showing off their cages, etc. I think the last DIY thread I saw was earlier this month about a misting system.

Natural sunlight for the chameleons, can't complain about that haha. Is 90 degrees unusual where you live? Where are you from?

Well I'll have plenty of DIY threads(I hope) in the future. Might turn a small shed into a Parsonii enclosure. Would like another bioactive free range for my one panther too.... So many projects lol. I'd make an outdoor enclosure, but it's not worth it with our weather here. I live in PA. Weather is all over the place, consistent dry sunny hot days are u unheard of here.

That'll be fun, I'm excited now haha. Are you keeping all your chameleons on bioactive enclosures?
The shes idea is good. I think that would be amazing.

Ah I see. Texas is the same, weather is unpredictable but for the most part we got really hot days, even in the winter

Yeah all of mine are bio, nothing fancy atm. Had to take down my old cages. Was going to take some pictures of the critters living in my soil.

Our winters can drop to the negatives... I can't stand it.

Do you have anything else other than isopods and springtails in there?

I hate the cold, I could not live like that. Or maybe I'm just used to the hell that is Texas haha

So when I built my enclosure, I completely geeked out. I purchased a herp keeper system and use it to control every element of my habitat except feeding. The system is a little expensive, but easy to use. I set the lighting to my time zone, and it changes sunrise/sunset automatically to match my actual sunrise/sunset times. My lighting comes on and turns off gradually, better simulating natural settings. The temp and humidity also are automatically adjusted per time of year. I like the temp to drop slightly in cooler months, and humidity to drop during this time as well. Granted these are both tiny adjustments that my chameleon may not really notice, but it makes me feel better. Best thing about my system, I've had to move the enclosure twice since set-up(sold/purchased new home), and this brilliant little computer saves all my settings! I just plugged it back in, and it's like nothing changed. Making adjustments is a little tedious, but once you're dialed in, best investment in reptile care I've ever made.
