Simple semi free range PIC

After reading about the positive impact free ranging can have on chameleon, I finally decided to start one. But I really don't want to spill water all over my place and reinstall lights and mistking, I set up a semi free range connected to the cage.

My chameleon stepped out of his cage only 30 minutes after everything was set up, which made me very happy. He was so sneaky that he only comes out when I was not looking. All of the sudden when I turned back I found him right behind me on the vine. What's even better is that he constantly come back and forth between his cage and free range area, which was my initial goal.

Now here's the problem, when he was in his cage, I could hand feed him. But after he got out into his free range, he felt more threatened by me. He hissed at me even when I had silkworms or crickets on my hand. I thought free ranging only makes them less aggressive:eek: Is that because he is still adjusting to the new environment? How long did it take for you guys too see changes after free ranging your chams.

He looks so cool! I have a panther and I semi free range him. I let him out mainly on the weekends when I can watch him since he seems to be stubborn and not go back into his cage when he needs to bask again lol But he won't eat free range at all for some reason, but will eat in his cage(free range crickets in cage, hand fed or cup fed meal worms) so that's where I feed and water him. I can't say he hisses anymore since I got him but they all have their own personalities! I have all fake plants and plan to get some real ones once I get his big cage(he's going on five months old).

Mine too. He never eats when he's out. I figured it was because he was stressed when I was around while he was out. He probably felt more relaxed when he was in his cage and would eat from the cup in my hand. So far, I haven't seen any effect of free ranging on his aggressiveness. But it has only been 3 days of free-ranging.
