Silver Colloidal

My reptile store asked me what I knew about silver colloidal solution to spray cages. Someone recommended it and they always ask me about these weird things. Does anyone know what this is used for and if it has any value?

It used to be taken orally in the old days...but was discontinued because of the side affects and because of modern medicine advances....

So not sure if it has a good use for cleaning cages but I do know that some kennels use silver collodial to administer to dogs who have caught parvo (and it does work). Seems to be a strong antiseptic for cleaning cages, I would not use it to clean mine.
