Should I add silkworms into my veiled's diet? If you guys could give me some info on nutritional value and such that would be much appreciated :D

Also Wal*Mart has butterworms in the fishing section... safe if they come from here?? Gut-loading?? Thanks :)

dang! you're the 2nd person to claim that wallyworld has butters! I've probably been to 20 different stores between Austin, San Antone and Houston and nothing! Must be regional...

Silkworms can actually be used as a staple feeder. I can't give you the specs, but they are very nutritional and low in fat. Remember, rule of thumb is no more than any one feeder makes up more than 20% of their diet...(like anyone adheres to this :D)

I got this link from sandrachameleons blog on feeders. If you are interested in nutrition I would give her page a read! She's like the guru of gutload :D

Thanks guys! I see they're high in calcium... now I just gotta get 'em. LOL. Now I know I'm not the only person that calls it Wallyworld... xD. I currently feed my guy dubias, crickets and supers with occasional waxworms. So you think safe for butterworms to come from Wallyworld?? Any ideas on how to gut load them?? Thanks :D

Heck no, you're not the only one to use Wallyworld! ;)
I would use the butters if I could find them. Not sure if you can gutload them or not...I'm sure someone will chime in!

Butterworms cannot be gutloaded they will only eat their host plant which you probably wont ever find. They are kept in the fridge and you just feed them off as you need them. They are also sterilized before being shipped to the US so they cannot be bred (they are a major pest.)

Thanks for the info! I should know better... almost any feeders you buy now are refrigerated xD. Any knowledge on nutritional value?
