silkworms and incubator

I plan on trying to raise some silkworms and I was reading on mulberry farm site that they recommend a incubator so I bought this G.Q.F. Manufacturing 1602N Hova-Bator Incubator . I also seen sites that say not to use one . the one reason I was going with the incubator was because I keep all my stuff in the garage and there is no way to keep the temp up to hatch them . the garage will be in the mid 60 in the day and upper 50s at night . what do you guys think about the incubator good or bad
thanks

Get it up to temp for a few days before you put eggs in it. That way you can adjust your temps and it will be stable. I have the same one in my basement, and it's been working fine. I do think the eggs I have are old, though. They've been taking a long time to hatch, and the last two times I've tried, they don't grow, just die. Kind of aggravating, since they were recently purchased. I had better luck with eggs laid by silkworms I had bought.

You're welcome. :)

No, no problems with humidity. I put a small tupperware filled with water in with the tupperware containers of eggs. It's in in my basement, and the basement is usually around 60 degrees.

I've had bad issues with keeping them alive with too high of humidity. I normally just keep them in a sealed container in the incubator. No water for humditiy. The only moisture they get is from the chow. Never had 1 issue hatching or growing them that way and it's worked every time.

I second that; humidity is not our friend in raising silks!

ok so do they need humidity when they are eggs right now, I just put the dish they came in and put it in the incubator with the top still on at 82. and when they start hatching do you guys take them out of the incubator into another tub and if so can I use a heating pad to keep them warm
thanks
