So Ive got some moths that have finally hatched and a couple have mated and laid their eggs. I cant seem to find any specific details on how to hatch the eggs, how long to put them in the fridge etc.. If someone has come up with their own guide or can point me in the right direction that would be awesome youtube has not been any help at all.

I am planning to take out fifty or so at a time and leave them at room temp. I believe it takes several months for them to hatch. Have you put a damp piece of papertowel in with them? Not on them though. I think there is a blog about them. I will try to find the link. Good luck.

I put them in the frig for 3 weeks or so then put them in a Petri dish under a regular house bulb for heat.

I usually didnt bother to put in the fridge unless I had far too many. The cool nights here proved sufficient. and room temp was good enough for hatching.

What kind of room temp Sandra? And did you just leave them in room temperature til hatching or did you have to do the incubating?

About 3 or 4 days after they are laid, the eggs turn dark grey/purple if they are fertile. Once they go dark then is the time to put them into the fridge for at least 4 weeks. I have heard that they can be kept in the fridge or up to a year. The reason we put them into the fridge is to force a diapause. In the wild the eggs would be laid at the start of winter and hatch the following spring when the temps warm up. I take mine out of the fridge and keep them warm on top of the roach bin. They need some humidity to hatch though so they don't dry out. Mine usually hatch in about a week or so.

I just wonder what Sandra's temps are if she keeps them at room temp and if she hatches em at that room temp or not.
