AHHHHH:eek:.....God knows i must love this little lady!!i am the kind of person who up until 4 months ago would freak out at the site of a daddy long legs or spiders(even small ones!!)so ...Trixxis new feeders came today and i gave her 3 silkies and 2 butterworms(is this enough??)she loved them....came straight down the vine looking more:D!she usually has 5-6 crickets and 2 locusts a day gut loaded with carrots,apple,orange.......is this the right amount to be giving her???

It doesn't really matter... to me... I usually feed about 3-4 silkworms.. and they snatch it real quick I will give more.. If they hesitate them I stop feeding..

Lol, yeah Ronnie - I know JUST what you mean! Before I got Lily I couldn't even pick up a tub of locusts or crickets to get to a tub of mealworms underneath! I would have to ask the pet shop assistant to pick the tubs up for me! Tweezers become your best friend, and now I hand feed locusts, but I still can't bring myself to touch those nasty crickets! Eww!:D

I'm not sure how many silkies an butterworms you should be feeding her. I know that silkies can be used as a staple along with crickets, locusts and superworms. Not sure about the butterworms though - never bought any of them. I thought they were too expensive especially if Lily didn't like them! What size silkies did you buy and how big are the butterworms?

Hi...thanks for the replies.....here are some pic's of her new feeders so you can get a look at the size...sorry if its a crappy picture....i've never taken photos of worms before!...some of the butter worms are reals heaps!!

I wouldnt hesitate to feed a couple appropriately sized silkworms per day to an adult chameleon. I think of one fat silkworm as equivalent to two or three crickets, a fat butterworm like 2 crickets. So long as there are crickets or superworms or roaches in the diet at least once a week instead, to provide chinton, you can use a lot of silkworms. Butterworms I'd limit to twice a week, just as I would limit superworms to twice a week, as Both butters and supers are fatty.
A nice meal plan might be
Day 1: silkworms
Day 2: crickets or locusts or roaches
Day 3: butterworms or superworms
Day 4: Silkworms
Day 5: cricket or locusts or roaches
Day 7: enrichment bug (something different from the rest of the week, like a hornworm, moth or woodsow)

Thanks Sandra...i have been checking out your blog(which is fantastic!!)i shall try out the plan above and see how she goes P....whats a woodsow?
