his light has been having problems. it shuts off for around a minuter or so anr turns on randomly. doesn't happen too often but im sure it stresses him out.

How are you measuring temps?
How far is the bulb to the basking place or the nearest the chameleon can get to the bulb?
Do you have pics of the full set up?
Does your reptivite have D3 in it?

Those MVB are self ballasted. I have had them do the same things also. Unfortunately, You just have to replace it when it starts to do this. The fact you notice your chameleon squinting under this light would also warrant changing the bulb also.

Yellow urates are a sign that he needs water offered more through out the day.

Honestly, your chameleon from the pictures does not look odd but pictures can be deceiving. Again if i had to guess he looks maybe a like he may be a little warm. The MVB bulb cast a certain a tad bit of a yellow color. Have you looked at your chameleon under a normal light?

what do you recommend changing the bulb to? another solar glo?
yes the reptivite has d3.
his basking spot is about 11 inches from the bulb
i meaasure the temps with a zoo med probe thermometer

Depends on your set up and desire. Solar glo is a decent bulb and if your chameleon and you like it then go with it. I personally have used them but the wattage plus the heat they emit keeps me with the typical recommended regular house bulb, linear tube set up. This set up is more versatile.

I would personally put the jar of calcium with D3 away. Since your reptivite has d3. All you need is the reptivite twice a month.

alright will do. he just threw up. im not sure what to think. thoughts?

Id have his next feces tested for parasites. Dont delay. Throwing up and if your sure he is an odd color that could also be another sign of parasites.

the coloring has gone away and he has gone back to his normal color. would you still recommend for me to get his feces checked? don't want to stress him out with a trip to the vet

color

His color does look a little odd. like the other user said, 'yellow bulb' ? . Anyway, without seeing in person it is hard to say. But vomiting + color is alarming. plus he is new, so no telling what he has or hasn't been exposed to.
