I tried to put this in classifieds and wasn't able to post there for some reason. I have a 9 mo old male veil that has MBD, I am not able to seek vet care for it and was looking to see if anyone would be interested in taking him. Someone who would be willing to get him the care that he needs. I am in NOrthen illinois by the Wisconsin boarder. PLease let me know

Why, how did it get MBD and besides really needing to get it to a vet are you doing anything to help like correcting the husbandry issue?

I am not completely sure how he got MBD , but I did figure out that i was supposed to take the plastic lens off my uvb light. I was dusting his crickets every day with calcium. I talked tot he lady we got him from and she said maybe he need bigger crickets. I have not changed his cage cause we weren'et sure if he was going to make it or if we were going to try and find him a new home as someone had suggested on here. I know from what everyone on here says he definetly needs to go to a vet. And at the moment some other things have come up and i really do not have the extra funds for a vet. I tried to get a vet to give me liquid calcium but they would not give it to me with out seein him. So i have been taking his powder and mixing it with a little water and he has been taking that from a syringe and also he has been eating some waxworms coated in his supplement

How long have you had it. Besides getting him to a vet. Taking the plastic off is a good start. You also need more than just a calcium supplement. Does this have vitamin D3 in it. Also wrong temps can cause improper digestion so he wont get all the nutrients and vitamins he needs. Do you gutload with anything besides store bought. Read this site thru especially the lighting, nutrition, and supplement parts. I honestly dont know exactly how much correcting the issues will help now but if someone is to take him or if he is going to get any better at all you should correct the problems ASAP. I am no expert or have ever delt with MBD but I hope there is a good turn around for him. You couldnt post in classifieds because you are a junior member. Here is the link.

This cham needs a new home

I am not in your area but hopefully someone closer to you will see this before it's to late.

I still have him. As i said before he is taking liquified calcium powder from a syringe and is eating some wax worms from tweezers. I don't know if is just me but sometimes he doesn't look as bad as he did last week. He finally went poop the first time since last monday or tuesday. I still have not found him a home. So i am just doing what i can.

Just wondering wht was going on with him. Have you found him a home yet?

"Take the plastic lens of the UVB light"...

What does that mean? I have a Reptisun 5.0 for UVB. What is the plastic lens?

Thanks.

Some lighting fixtures come with a clear plastic lens. You need to remove it in order to pass the UVB to the animal, plastic blocks UVB.

Are you dusting his meal worms? you should really be feeding him dusted crickets and placing him near the UVB. Don't bake him, but it will help him. What kind of temps are you running? how often do you mist?

Yes i am dusting the wax worms. I h ave tried crickets but he isn't using his tongue to catch them. And i can't seem to hold on the a cricket long enough for him to open his mouth and for me to drop it in his mouth. He was never hand feed so this is something new for him.yes he is near the uvb lamp and the temp is normally between 80-90 degrees. I mist 1-2 times a day

I am not sure on his bones as i haven't been able to take him to the vet.

You can tell by looking at his limbs. If they seem bent then he has some serious issues. You might be able to get him back in better shape with your methods. You won't be able to straighten his bones, the damage is done. You will however be able to make them stronger. After some vet treatment my GF brought home a female Veiled that had MBD from Petco when she worked there. We were able to make her bones strong again but they were still bent.

Here is a pic of the sassy Stella.

Here you can see her limbs are bent and her casque is deformed.
