Hi, I am Levi, I am 15 years old, and quite inexperienced, this is my first chameleon, i have a male 4 month old veiled chameleon, he is in a 3 foot high by 2 feet by 2 feet screened terrarium, with a wood floor and coconut husk on the bottom, he has a 50 watt heat lamp and a UVB lighting system for calcium, I have a heat rock at the bottom, and he has many vines and sticks to climb on, i am yet to get him a plant, ALSO Need tips on what plants?

Anyways, My Question is, my chameleon seems perfect, But i am also knew to this.. so i might not know...? I have questions...

- Should i Get him tested for anything?
- What should the floor be for him?
- What plants should i get him?
- Is 23 Degrees Good Enough for him, It says it should be 22-25 or so? I geuss it should be okay..?

Please Help Me out, And Add Me please if you have any tips for me? Thanks Alot!! :)

Yes, get a fecal float. It alway a good idea to get a vet check up on any new animal.

Nothing should be on the floor.

There's a safe plant list on the nleft side of the home page....I use ficus.

NO heat rock.

He needs a basking spot of about 86 and cooler 75 to 78 in the rest of the cage.

VERY important to have a tube UVB light and a basking light.

Very important to use supplements, 3 kinds: plain calcium at almost every feeding. Calcium with D3 twice a month and a mulit vit. once a month.

And please read and study the site given to you above. It's so much to learn to keep your little guy healthy.

BTW Welcome to the forums.

Just curious did a pet store sell you a heat rock for a chameleon better yet did they recomend it? If so please post the address of this store so i can BURN IT DOWN TONIGHT!!!:mad::mad::mad:with the guy who told you to buy it inside.I understand that your new to this so why would you know but let me make a comparison a chameleon and a heat rock would be like saying a dog needs sneakers

Ok thank you, and the guy just said he needs a heat lamp and some sorta other heat sorce, the rock or some pad you lay under the coconut husk... :S I will take the rock out, mind me askin why?

because chameleons dont go on rocks...they hide and stay in the trees. You should really go back to the pet store and tell the guy who sold u it to take the week off then quit :) As long as you have the right temps in your basking spot and the rest of the cage, you wont need an extra heating source.
