Shopping for a new scale...

I have been using a scale from my work that we used to use to to count nuts and bolts. It only gives accuarcy to 1 gram and I am not confident on how accurate it really is. I would prefer not to spend $500 on a scale, but I want something that could be used to weigh feeders, Chams, Ball Pythons, and other herpy stuff. Anybody have an affordable one that they would recommend... I found this and believe it looks like what I need, and seems like a great price. Anyone use it? Anyone tried this seller?

I got a nice one on eBay for $14.99 and free shipping.....it's the kind you would weight food in. Jann

Howdy,

Harbor Freight Tools (cheap chinese tools :)) has a nice little scale that I've used for years. I see the price has gone up to $17. It was about $13 a few months ago. If you aren't in a rush, watch for it to come on sale again. It has a 500 gram max with 0.1 gram resolution. Works fine for weighing most hatchlings like 0.9gram panthers :) on up to most adults.

Well since you are interested in a scale for both ball pythons and chams (and other herp stuff), a 500g max capacity scale won't work for ball pythons. The 3001P scale has 3000g max capacity so I vote for that one. I originally bought a scale for my ball pythons (had them before I discovered chams) and it can't accurately measure my chameleons well (+/- to the .01kg).

I got mine at Walmart in the kitchen section for $30. It zeros back and has a nice tray to use to weigh the critter. I use it for everything from a cham to snakes and feeders. It weighs in grams and ounces.

I just bought the 3001G scale. :p I like the red led looks and it comes with a tray. Also AC adaptor is optional which is great!

Will this scale measure with .1 gram increments? Sounds nice.
