Shipping Chameleons

Does anyone have any thoughts on cheaper shipping methods for chameleons. I tried UPS ($60) and Shipmy reptiles.com ($59). How do some on here actually get $35 or $40 shipping from UPS?

Ship your reptiles was only $1 cheaper than regular UPS?
I can't imagine that's right.
I use them all the time and get much better rates.
What are the to and from zip codes?

Ship your reptiles should be much cheaper than that.

If you ship a smaller box, it will also be cheaper.

Ron,
If you have any questions, PM me.

I second that. UPS has always been about $15-20 more expensive than Ship Your Reptiles.

Usually, when you see the really cheap shipping rates like $30-40, it's usually in-state or just one state over.

I am shipping from Denver to New Jersey. I figured it would cheaper as well since I only paid about $35 recently for shipping. I can get it down to $40 with a 7x7x7 box but I am shipping a large male veiled chameleon and I am not sure that will work.

You cannot ship a large male Veiled in a 7X7X7. I have shipped subadult Panthers, but my 20"+ Veiled would in no way fit into that box.

Sometimes you can cut costs by shipping to a UPS service center and having the person pick it up or ship to a business address.

I highly recommend SYR. It is absolutely cheaper than regular UPS counter rates, and simple to use. http://www.shipyourreptiles.com/ . Website is owned by fantastic people who are good friends of ours.

You won't find better rates unless you are doing bulk shipping, so whatever size box you choose, this is gonna be your best bet by far! Don't ship via post office to save a few bucks - stick with either fed ex or UPS. Good luck!

A 7 x 7 x 7 is too small for an adult veiled imo. As for shipping rate it also depends on the classification of where you are shipping the chameleon too. I am classed as rural ( believe me that is accurate!) and it usually cost about $50 or $55 to get a chameleon to me in Montana.

I'm going to have to try shipyourreptiles! thanks for this sweet feedback guys hah, and by the way, what is so bad about over night shipping with USPS? All the mantid dealers use it, not sure why the chameleon breeders don't?

I normally use UPS for over night shipping, fed-ex I have to lie because they don't take reptiles, atleast in my area...lol?

I believe when you're shipping atleast once a week, you can get a discount with a membership thru UPS, I am going to apply for that soon because I've been selling buggies from left to right.

My stuff is shipped BY UPS overnight but VIA Ship Your Reptiles. You just get a better rate through SYR.
