I have a 9 month old female panther, i think shes about to lay so i have put a laybin in her viv full of moist soil in but she doesnt even go near it she just trys to get out of the cage scrathing at the screen were she can get to it. I tried putting it outside the cage with a vine leading to it but she still only ever went down and tried to get on the floor. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi there! Females do get very restless around egg laying time. My girl claws at the roof and the plants etc. during gestation (only on our 2nd run now) but she's doing all the same things she did the first time she was gravid.

It's very easy to worry and get impatient but my guess is that your girl isn't quite ready yet and that's why she's not in the bin. My girl doesn't go anywhere near it until its test hole time and she visits to see what like the soil is. She does hiwever sit on the floor and in the plant pots but avoids the binlike nothing else! It's important that you just put the bin in and give her a bit extra privacy. She will dig when she's ready :) and it seems to take forever!

Here's a great blog for you by the lovely Jann who has had many successfully egg layings https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/jannb/345-egg-laying-laying-bin.html
