How do you know when a chameleon is about to shed? Do they get wrinkly and start to look very light like a crested gecko looks like when it is about to shed?
I always think they look like they've been 'frosted' before they shed! Amy's casque used to go really shiny before she shed, but now she just goes frosty looking! I haven't seen a crestie shed but I would think that they would look pretty similar.
How old is your cham? When they are tiny they shed in a matter of hours! I find shedding totally fascinating - the soles of their feet come off in one peice and look like they've taken their dirty socks off, lol!
He'll probably shed every month - Amy did until she was 6 months and now it's every three months! They are so funny the way the wriggle and squirm and rub themselves on the branches to get the skin off!
Edit - he may go off his food just before a shed too.
Mine just started to shed today, he has not been eating as many crickets as he was a couple of days ago. So I had a feeling he was going to be shedding pretty soon. Just like some of my other reptiles.
