Hello i have a question? My chameleon is having problems sheding. Is there anything i can do with him about this situation with him. And also i just spent alot of money on butterworms, Goliath worms, silk worms and he doesn't eat them either. What can i do for him to want to eat them ? Thanks

It may refuse food during shedding, this is not a concern, A few days to a week wont harm it.
Meanwhile mist your animals cage a few times a day to increase humidity and aid shedding.

Leave him on his plant..............take him in the shower and turn the water on luke warm. Do not place him in direct water ...just put him in there and let the humidity absorb into his skin. Leave him in there a good 20-30 minutes.

Could this be the problem if he is only eating the crickets and not the worms? I bought him goliath worms, silk worms, butterworms and he refuses them. Is there any kind of spray will hekp him shed? Thanks for everything

Hi thanks for the sheding advice. After I do all of this for him in the shower how many days or weeks will the sheding appear? Please let me know asap. Thanks

Hi Kianna! I though i would have a hard time with the shedding of my veiled too,
but i took to misting him in the shower three times a day, it shouldn't be too long
till you see some white skin, I think for veileds the head and casque is the hardest,
because of the varying thicknesses of skin. Good luck!

hi, shedding is part of every reptile, you cant avoid it, they shed because they grow, but what you can do is mist.. i have a spray called shed off, misting while shedding helps, but you cant avoid, and it happens like once a month.. and the worms, just put them in a cup, if he wants it he'll take it, if not i found them to good use with some crickets.. what your feeders eat, your chameleon eats

Kianna,

Place the worms on the side of the screen, they will crawl up, you should get more reaction that way. Chams will favor certain feeders, but when HUNGRY, will eat what moves! In the wild they can go for many days without food.:D
The Butters last forever in the refrigerator, and you can slow down the hornworm growth by putting them 1 day in the refrigerator, and 2 days out...repeat, repeat. Both the silkworms and hornworms can be pupated into moths that can be fed to chams, so you don't waste the money invested.:D

What part of the body is having troubles shedding? If it is just the body continue with the extra hydration (showers). If it is fingertips or a tail tip, you can rub a little KY on those ends with a q-tip. IMHO those are the only parts that I worry about with shedding, as stuck shed could cut off circulation to those areas.

As for the feeding, don't give in by offering him crickets. If he is hungry enough, he will eat those worms. Shedding does cause some chams to lose their appetite though.

Hi when u say hydration shower? How mant times a day should i do that for him. Right now i am not working and i have alot of spare time for him to shed. He just is having problems sheding from every where any more help tips and he has eaten the worms but not the butterworms yet?

When u mean misting him what do u mean letting the mist of the water hit him softly? Please let me know . Thanks the last time he shed he barely shed and i have had him for 4-5 months and he hasn't complete shed but that was months ago. now he ready to shed and it isn"t happen? Please more advice thanks

you can get a hand mister, or squirt bottle, like what you use to clean windows *DONT USE ONE if it has had chemicals in it before*.

but you can lightly mist him with warm water, or do the shower, never directly spray him, but let water bounce off on of the walls onto/near him or the plant, he will absorb the water via humidity.

misting his enclosure will greatly raise the humidity and is the ideal method for hydrating your chameleon, and it is what you should be doing 3-4 times a day for 5 mins as it is.

I point the shower head at the wall and let the water "bounce" off the wall into the cage. I leave my guys in the shower for 30 mins.

Also, how old is the chameleon, it seems that as they get older it takes them longer, my male veiled takes FOREVER to shed. One week he will shed his head, then his legs, then his head...ect...like it was said, dont stress over shedding, unless its on the toes, or tail cause that may cause circulation problems

my 11month panther i belive sheds in about a day an a half.
my 5 month old will shed in 2 hours.

milo(my cham ) is 9 month old and i'll try the shower again.. I did the spray with the water bottle not directly to him but the water wasn't squirting out luke warm it was more a little colder? Thanks for ur advice =)
