She nailed it!

So it was feeding time at the zoo, and I had all 3 cages open and 4 hungry panthers to feed. Three of my panthers take to b. dubia nymphs eagerly, whereas Enakai, my new 1.7 month old Nosy Faly female, ignores them for the most part. She is a picky eater, timid, and I believe she is still settling in. I have to feed her crickets, which I don't breed. She will take crickets when I am at a good distance away.

A damn housefly was buzzing around as I was hand feeding my chams, annoying the mess out of me. I was just thinking "I wish that fly would mosey on over to one of.." and before I could complete my thought, it flew into Enakai and Kraken's cage, and she went "thwap!!!" The fly landed a foot away from her, but she moved with a purpose and nailed it. I was just 2 feet from her and she didn't think twice! So proud of my little girl :D

To think, I had 3 cages, and 4 panthers...and my little girl was the lucky diner!

You go girlie, Enakai!!!
Glad to see your babies are settling in, im taking Krunch to the vet today :(
I will pm you with the results. Kruiser is starting to settle in nicely.
Isn't it cool when you get an unexpected gift like that?. Betcha you are gonna look for more house flys!!!!

Can I ask why you are housing two together? I thought they weren't supposed to be. Or are you trying to breed?

OH you better believe I ordered several hundred HF pupae! I got some before for Krakatoa & Java, and they loved it.
I sincerely hope that your vet is knowledgable and figures this out! But more-so, I really hope it is nothing to worry about. I am really looking forward to what the vet says, and I am wishing Krunch all the best!!

No, not trying to breed! They are both less than 2 months old, and have plenty of cover in their "pothos jungle". Chams that young are frequently kept together, in small numbers. The cage is 16x16x20. I had two setup to house them individually, but had to return one because of defects. I am monitoring closely for aggression, but they are getting along great. Will have a replacement cage by next week.

with proper visual barriers, space, and room to roam..chameleons technically live together in the wild..alot of times breeding pairs will be found sleeping within five feet or so of eachother..

thats karma for the fly!! ha

Ah ha. I was not aware they were that young. I knew they could be together when still very small, but I was curious. Hehe.
