Hello everyone I'm Fey, I currently keep a crestie and I'm really enjoying modding his naturalistic viv and looking after him. I live in the SW of England.
I'm now seriously considering a panther cham in the near future, but want to make sure the setup is correct since there is a lot of conflicting info out there!
So I want to get a male around 3+ months old, and I have a second hand terrarium which is 18x18x24 (can extend this upwards with mesh) that I have taken a glass panel off at the top, and one long side panel so they can be replaced with mesh for ventilation. I may cover the remaining 2 glass panels with mesh.I'll be making a drip system & cricket cup & misting twice daily.
So far I'm ordering a Ficus benjamina (for smaller viv), umbrella plant and 15m of komodo vine. I also have some decent branches and fake plants to attach for hiding. Also 2x exoterra digital thermometers and 2x digital hygrometers.
I'll be building a big home for my cham once hes old/ big enough, around 3ft wide by 5ft tall, 2ft deep, which will be mesh but possibly wrapped with plastic on 2 sides for humidity.
My question is about the lighting? What would you guys recommend for a baby cham, and could you possibly provide amazon links? Some people say basking lights for younger chams depends on the room hes put in, is this correct?
Will I have to buy a different lighting system for the adult cage?
I already breed crickets so will have to invest in some other live foods, I think I understand the supplements-
Babies: Gutloaded live foods dusted with plain calcium (no d3) at just about every feeding, Reptivite with d3 twice a month.
Adults: large variety of well gutloaded feeders, multivitamin once every 2 weeks, and calcium with D3 once every 2 weeks.
Sorry for all the noob questions, I just want some assurance that the info I have is correct.
Thank you in advance
I'm open to change if there's anything here you find inappropriate/ think I have wrong! Just want the best for my future cham.
