On impulse I bought a Senegal chameleon at the reptile show in Maryland. I always wanted one and the price was right. Just having a tough time getting info on it. Does anyone have a good reference link or any info. I am looking for what eats, it only ate a few crickets this week, behavior, it hisses and puffs out. The last thing is for 2 days it is brown not the green\yellow and I noticed white dots.

Thanks helping

Mine ate crickets the most (and a lot of them but you have to be careful with those females), superworms, moths, flies, small roaches... just to name a few. I loved keeping this species.

I really want to see this chameleon and what you're talking about. Please post a photo. They can be in such sad shape when they arrive. And full of parasites, as you probably know.

All are WC. They are very hard to breed. No one knows why, but mostly, because of such poor care they have while they are coming in. Plus, they are always full of parasites.

Here is a link www.Chameleons! Online E-Zine.mht
that is helpful about senegals. I finally sold mine about a month ago. It now resides at a high school about 50 miles form here and is very loved. I am not great at links so if this doesn't work let me know and I will email it to you as an attachment, it is 12 or 13 pages.

Go to this link https://www.chameleonforums.com/how-ask-help-66/, fill it out so we know what you have for your cham, and PLEASE take some pictures... perhaps you may need to give it away..
WAS it the harve de grace show i know exactly who you got them from last time i was there they had 2 for 15$ if the stress from everything they been thru and the parasites they are infested with dont kill them they will go back to green in a month or so i would recomend taking it to a vet but im afraid you would just be wasting money most of them are to far gone but i hope im wrong

Also mav i would avoid those guys in the future they are in the reptile business for money and thats it they sell hot garbage please avoid them like an s.t.d!!!!!!!

I had a hard time breeding. There was one female I had that laid 35 (either that or 38, can't remember) eggs. A lot of them hatched but the babies were very frail. Their turrets were slightly transparent. They didn't live very long either. It was a huge disappointment.

Getting the adults to breed was really difficult because my females were huge in comparison to the males and very intimidating. The biggest female had a couple of massive abscesses but they healed over so well leaving very small scars. The one female that had subcutaneous nematodes actually did better than we expected after the vet removed a number of them. Those are gross!

Ciafardo4,
Yes, it was the Havre de Grace show, two at $15 each. It looked healthy at the show. I hate the fact I probably bought a wild caught animal. I have a marine aquarium and only purchase CCB fish, coral, etc.
Thanks for the links everyone. Guess I have much reading to do. I will post a pic as soon as I get a chance.

Was cold and windy in NJ last night. I put a space heater in the room to keep it warmer. I keep the house at 73 at night and upstairs is a bit cooler. This morning the cham looked good green coloring and climbed down the perch. When it saw me started to climb up again. Came home from work and it's brown again and didn't touch any crickets. I will take pic and post in about an hour.

Pics -
The first is what it looked like in the morning and the second one is after I came home from work. You can see some the white spots. many are on the head but hard to get a pic as it seems ticked off and aggressive.

Yes but it's temporary. I have the tank standing long ways with the screen on the front. Before I bought the cham I called someone that had a screen cage and they said they would hold it for me. The next day I called to pick up and they sold it. A friend of a friend is suppose to have 1 for me. If I don't get it tomorrow I will build one this weekend. I should point out that yesterday and today were the only times I kept in the tank. Sunday thru Wed I let roam outside the tank.

mav right now its best to keep him hydrated and give him privacy put him up high in the room away from traffic remember he's been through alot dont worry about food yet just keep him hydrated!

Phil,
He doesn't seem to like being sprayed. I have been misting the branch and plants. I was thinking of adding a drip but heard it's not necessary.

a drip would give it a less tramatic way to get water try dripping for 15to30 minutes three times a day a slow drip and besure it can drain
