Senegal

His eyes look pretty bad in that last photo. A warm shower may stress him out way too much this early into it. Spray around him gently withwarm water. He needs this, from the looks of things, at least 3 or 4 times a day. How long have your misting periods been? For instance, I mist about a half gallon morning and late afternoon with a dripper in between. This is only because Im not there during the day. Ideally though, like I said, start with 3 or 4 thurough mistings minimum per day.

Phil,
I was thinking of adding a drip but heard it's not necessary.

Who did you hear that from???
Senegals are huge drinkers and your animal needs access to water all day. Particularly right now when you're not sure what it's conditions have been like previous to being with you.
Senegals will readily drink from a dripper and will surprise you with how much time they spend there and how much they actually drink.

a drip would give it a less tramatic way to get water try dripping for 15to30 minutes three times a day a slow drip and besure it can drain

Yes, I forgot to mention. I second that! If you're going to boost your watering, make sure you have suitable drainage.

I read that on of the online site, forget which one. I will set uo a drip witha water bottle tomorrow and spray tonight. I work from home most days so can easily mist it several times a day. I also think it's a female from pics and what I read. Just curious why it puffs up and hisses.

Just a quick note. You may not want to water him within 1 1/2 hours, preferably 2 or so before lights out. Gives them a chance to warm up again before sleep, also the floor shouldnt be wet. For example, my lights go out at 6pm, so I wont water after 3:30-4pm at the latest.

To answer the last part of you post.... Because shes pissed. It means back off mofo!

Can you post a few more photos? Your cham may actually be a Graceful Chameleon, Chamaeleo gracilis, not a Senegal Chameleon, Chamaeleo senegalensis.

Chris

I have to agree with Brad that it looks like a female. Does she have a place to dig in the cage in case she needs to lay eggs?

I also don't think its a Senegal.

Its tail is a bit thin, but other than that it seems to be in pretty good condition.

i have seen them they keep about 20 out in one cage the rest are in boxes under the table:mad:but im 99% sure its a senegal unless a graceful got mixed in.

Look at the dorsal crest and the more pronounced casque of the chameleon in question vs. this picture of my (late) female senegal.
I think Chris is right.

She is really ticked off this morning. I can't get a pick; keeps hissing and hiding. I would try moving the plants but after seeing the other post of the veiled biting that guys finger no way. I am now more afraid of the cham than my 18" beardy. I can tell you the cham has a crested head similar to a crested gecko. I will try pics again later today. I moved the tank in front of a window and she seems to like that hanging on the fron screena nd walking around.

Leave her alone. She needs to get adjusted to her new pad. All your doing by moving plants and stuff around is just stressing her out more. Chameleons are very much a "look don't touch" reptile. God knows what she's been through before she was in your care. Glad she has someone who wants to give her a really great home, good luck with her!!

Al, I don't plan on moving anything. Meant that I would have in order to get a better pic. I am waiting for her to come into the open and then snap some.

Here another shot. You can see crest better.

So... Did you get 2? I was confused about the 2 for 15. If so, the obvious question being, what happened to the other one?
