Secret drinking

hi everyone :) i had another question  my baby cham (Xanthus) never drinks right after i spray him  do veileds only drink in secret? or is something wrong?

Many do not drink in front of people, find one of his urates and if the majority of it is white, he is drinking.

i hid behind a door once and saw my baby vieled drinking, when i stood up in the middle of the doorway my cham froze, and she completely stopped drinking. Most vields are shy, not too out of the norm regardless of type of cham. No worries! A picture of its eyes would make a 100% accurate dicission though.

If you have a dripper you wouldn't have to worry about him because there is a regular flow of water for your chameleon to get water from.:D

If the eyes are sunk in, or aren't "full" looking, they could be dehydrated.

If the urate's white, the cham's alr-ite.

I have a female veiled and she drinks in front of me all the time....
when I turn her dripper on she moves to it and drinks doesnt even hesitate if shes thirsty...

his eyes are full, and he is very alert :D he can see crickets on the floor from the top of the cage so i think hes healthy :D

also i forgot to ask this, will crickets bite my cham in his sleep? all the ones that dont hide get eaten, and the others go under my pot  so will the ones under the pot come out at night and bite him?

Yes - those nasty crix will eat anything! You may find cup feeding easier! That way you simply remove the cup with the uneaten insects in at the end of the day. I have never free ranged food for either of my chams. Lily would visibly cringe when a locust climbed on her and she would try and get away from it. I wasn't happy with that, so I always cup feed crix and handfeed locusts. Cup feeding makes it easier to keep track of how much food is being eaten too.

Weird, my chams drink in front of me all the time. In fact, they see me turn on the dripper and they rush to it and start drinking. When I use a spray bottle w/ warm water they climb to the wet leaves and drink with no issue of my presence.
