Scratched Tail - Treatment?

My 6 month old panther seems to have scratched his tail bad enough to remove some skin either yesterday or early this morning. I'll take some picts tomorrow, but I was wondering if I should apply any antibacterial ointment on the raw part in the morning?

It seems like he must have got the end wedged in between a sharp piece of wood because both sides are partially cut and showing a bit of hanging skin. The skinned part is black and less than a half inch long, but he's still quite active and using the tail... but of course I worry.

Yes, I would put some Zymox or Silvadene Cream on it, if you have it. If not I guess you could try Neosporin. You might want to do it tonight while he's sleeping and not active. Jann

Thanks for the link and info. I applied a good smudge of Triple Antibiotic Ointment to both sides while he was sleeping. Having a girlfriend who's a paramedic has it's benefits even for my chameleons now.
At least the tail doesn't have a kink in it, so hopefully it will heal up quickly.
