Scholarship Resume advice???

Hey guys,

I am nearing graduation from high-school and am currently filling out scholarship applications for local scholarships. Most are not online so I am having to hand in physical papers and copies of essays.

Instead of just going through and filling out the apps that were given I was thinking about creating a universal "resume" of everything I have accomplished in high-school. I will fill out each scholarships main page and tear off the rest and just staple the resume I create on the back. ( Or just write in " see attached")

This method is acctually prefered to just writing in the all the data. NOW, my question is should I just do the traditional boring, outline or would yall think it would be appropriate to go all out and be extremely creative with it. Making it more eye catching ( but still easy to read)

here are some examples http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/creative-designer-resume-curriculum-vitae/

now, alot of those are hard to read, and probably would not make it past the first trial, but you get what I am going at. I have not done much ( compared to other classmates) as far as extracurricular, but I was thinking if I put alot of work into the resume that this will show how bad I want the scholarship and how much time I spent on it. Most of my extracurricular is reptile related as I have bred, and studied many species.

what are your thoughts????

personally, i think the ones in the link are over the top..i would not go that far, but having a resume with a few personalizations like a cute border, maybe a reptile clipart and such wouldnt be a problem. but your creativity means nothing if the info theyre looking for is not there :/ so make sure you have everything info related before you worry about personalization :)

good points. I've already made one few months back that I am going to update. And yea, most of them are way to much. But most of those are done by graphic design students ( i couldn't find any others)

But I would like to do more than just a border you know? be more creative than the rest that will be applying. I think that will help speak for itself.

also, these are scholarships from sponsors from around town, so its not very formal you know? ( especially being in highschool) My graduating class is only 120

I recommend talking about chameleons wherever you can. People and colleges find that very unique. I mentioned that I kept chameleons and all the research I've done that has to do with them and they seemed to love it. I got accepted to Ucla (were I currently am), Calpolypomona, waitlisted at duke, and Harvard. Those are the schools where I mentioned chameleons in my applications. And got denied from UCR, Cornell, calstate northdridge, Harvey mudd and many others hahaha, which is where I did NOT mention chameleons at ALL . I found that to be super interesting. I just thought my story might help. Good luck!

Thats very interesting. I always would avoid mentioning anything like that. I usually just put down "specialty animal husbandry/breeding" something generic. But if you put chameleons, I guess that opens up questions and they want to know more. I might just try that.

Let us know how it goes!
