Well today my husband and I decided to get all the materials needed to breed our own crickets. Considering we live almost an hr away from pet stores. Saving money on gas back and forth, also saving on not buying anymore crickets. Got everything needed and our females are champs and laying their eggs like crazy. 7 to 10 days we should have our first batch of little ones to grow for Milly. She is doing great btw. It is going to feel very odd tending to everything without my husband. He leaves in the morning on a helicopter to head offshore for 2 weeks.

I linked a picture of Milly I took today, her habitat and cricket setup. She is hiding behind her camilia plant cooling from her basking spot. I hope she likes her green carpet. My daughter wanted to get purple lol.

When hubby returns we are going get the materials for Milly's new habitat we building. Undecided on what size. I tried to convence him I want the whole wall of one room her habitat. You should have seen his face lmao. He has years of carpentry skills before working offshore. He will have fun making her habitat. :)

What size would be best for a adult female Veiled Chameleon?
Also what type of wood is safe for them?
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated !

A good cage for the panther/veiled would be the large lllreptile/reptibreeze/diycage 24x24x48. The height lets her pick her own temp better. You could go one size smaller if space is tight, since its a girl.

One thing on your crickets. VENT VENT VENT! You want to go up like 2-3" from the bottom and then make the entire sides screen. This will make the cricket last alot longer and greatly reduce the smell. However you can not do this with pin heads unless you have ultra fine window screen.

Also once they get a good size, if you keep them at 65-70F they will last 2x longer then if you keep them in the 80's.

My first batch of what looks like 1000's hatched over thanks giving week. Im hoping to transfer them to the adult tank in about 2 weeks (should be 1/4" by then). Once they start chirping i can start another round. From my est you want to make a new batch at least every 3 weeks. So you will have about 3 batches at any given time, say pin heads, 1/2" and adults. Then in 3 weeks the adults are about spent, the 1/2" are now adults, and the pin heads are 1/2".

im in the same pace as you hopefully we suceed since its been so cold even with portable heaters atleast at my place.

Reply to Rango183 : The moisture you see in the picture is from us putting warm subtraite/plain soil in to help them get in the mood to you know :p We used packaging tape on the inside halfway all the way around. They slip on it and can't climb up, even the babies. Hubby is cutting out some strips out around the top sides. :p
