Well, I had let her out to get some sun on the tree, and was watching her for the most part, then went inside for a bit......I can still watch the tree from the master bedroom.......went all day and she was on the tree but then went inside and came out and she was gone......thought at first that she was just doing a good job blending in......leaves r goin brown and she is brown so figured.....Id find her this morning sunning herself.
Didnt see her so I put my male on the tree to see if he'd flare up and get her to come out hissing and all....but nothing!!!
Poor girl, she was gravid and now is probably very scared. There are "tons" of shrubs and vines within my backyard so dont even know where to begin!!! I've been misting everything down so that if she's still around(if no bird got her) that she'd at least get her water...........

very sad hope u find her. my girlfriend lost her faly a couple weeks ago. has like 7 fruit trees in her backyard.couldnt see him anywhere so i started hosing the trees.still nothing so i climbed on the roof n started watering. after about 5 min i see a blue spot at the top of the tree. ran over to the tree n pulled the branch down n grabed him.was so relieved

Yea, when they r male and especially blues.....easier to find.....but a female that is brown blends in so well hard to find them....

I will say it in a nicer way. Unless you are standing or sitting there watching your chameleon outside, then do not "free range" them outside. They will escape. The benefits of the outdoors are just as good in a cage.
There have been too many stories of people turning away for a second and the chameleon being gone to chance it.
I will say I keep 4 chameleon outside almost year round, and yes I did have a problem with rats but with them eating my roaches and not my chameleons. I have fixed that situation, and there is no way anyone can even see in my backyard, and no racoons. I have been doing this for years with no issues-so it can be done.
I am also sorry for your loss. I spend a month searching for my water dragon and it stinks to lose them.

I can respect that Julirs.........much better said then blasting off like he did........

All I can say it look, look and keep looking, she it out there and to everyone NEVER EVER even turn your back on you cham when you have them outside.

I guess you can't try the "stick a female out in the open" trick here.

I would suggest leaving the cage open with a red light on it at night, and put food in a bowl, preferably something that makes noise.

Best of luck.

Hope you find her Brye, cant even think of the stress she is going through, especially gravid.

Tell me about it.....she was in her lay tub all week, and still hasnt laid, so I figured Id give her some "fresh air' u know........well, she got her fresh air all right and decided to go see what the rest of the world has to offer!!!
