Ryker is old

He's officially 5 years old now, this november he will be turning 6 years. He's still having good days and weeks. He has his bad days for sure. But he is still fiesty and such and enjoying life as much as he can at his age. His worse eye now has a cataract but his better eye is compensating well. He still is force fed, but he's accepting it nicely. He seems to have recognized when feeding is happening and what it means. He's putting on weight, drinking well, enjoying outdoor time. So no pain signs are good. I am surprised he is as doing well as he is. He gets doctor's check ups once a year, and sometimes 6 months time if I am worried about his eyes and needs them flushed or something. I am not sure how much longer I should expect him to keep going before I either decide he's gotten to a point where putting him down is necessary or he decides to go on his own.

Here is him a few days ago before the rain, he spent I think 4 hours out that day before it started getting too cool. He was super good this day, sassy and fighting me more than usual with eye lubrication, he even fought feeding a bit after a around 2 cc, which isn't even close to all he gets in one day. I could tell he was feeling good because all he was interested in was exploring. Wasn't even slowing down long enough to take his usual 45 minute shower that morning.

He looks like such a character. He's lucky to have had you looking after him so well.
I was so worried about him for a while cause I couldn't get him to gain weight foe the longest time then I added another like 2 cc to his daily regime (I feed him around .8 at once) and then he's slowly been putting weight back on. It's made me so much happier. He is such a sweetie and I would hate to have to put him down before he's ready to leave.
