Runt Veiled

Hello, I am starting to think I have a runt veiled chameleon. When I got him he was 3 months old and I've had him for 3 months and he hadn't grown at all. I know some chameleons might grown slow but I think this is a little to slow. If he is a runt cham how big will he get? Should I still put him in a bigger cage? Thank you for any help.

Have you had him tested for parasites? The chameleon in my avatar was not growing at all either for months when I got him. Turns out he had Coccidia. It will slow down their growth. Not saying this is your case, but atleast you could rule that out and if he does have a parasite you need to have him treated. Once I got mine treated, he took off! He is still on the smaller side for a panther but is very healthy and beautiful now as you can see. Also, some just grow slower than others and there are just such a thing a runts. House of chameleons had a couple of Veilds that just never grew and stayed the size of a baby. That is very rare for this to happen, but I guess it happens with all animal species.

As Carol mentioned, slow growth could be coccidia. Sometimes they grow slowly when they don't get enough food. I'm always astounded at how few feeders some novices put in for their babies. Are your temps accurate for the species. (See the care sheets under the Resources tab.) Do you have enough light? If you don't have enought light they will settle down for the night and not eat.

I have 2 lights 1 for uvb 1 for basking. I feed him 12 crickets a day and I also have dubais and supers for him. I monitor his temps to make sure they stay where they need to be. I dust everything according to the schedule recommended on this website. And I read the entire veiled care sheet. I'm going to the vet in the next couple days so I will take a fecal with me and have it tested. I didn't know there was a parasite that could stop their growth, thank you for the info.
