Rosy boa not eating

Hi all...I have a rosy boa, that is about 6 months old. He has always been a great eater, eating live fuzzies now. However, about 2 weeks ago, he stopped eating. He went through a shed, ate a fuzzy, and has not eaten another since then. He has good weight on him, and he's active in his cage, drinking water. He did kill the fuzzy but then just left it. The temps in my room where I keep him are the same, but getting warmer now that spring is here. Nothing has changed in his cage. I have no idea why he is off his food. Does this happen with rosy's? He is a male by the way. I have tried offering f/t fuzzies too, and he doesn't want them either. Any ideas/advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Caroline

Does he have a heat pad under part of his enclosure for thermoregulation? It's breeding time and many males tend to go off feed right about now, but he's much too young to be thinking of a women. He should be feeding every week, but one missed meal isn't going to hurt him. Try again next week, and if hungry, he should eat.

Hi Caroline.
sometimes they will not want to eat, it just happens! i agree with jon that just try again next week on his regular feeding day and see if he will eat then. it wont hurt him to not eat for a week :) i would try with the live food if thats what he normally has, if hes never has f/t food before then he may refuse to eat just because he doesnt recognize it as food. its best if they refuse to eat to wait until the next feeding day to try to feed them again, that way they are hungrier and its their regular schedule!
my female rosy last week killed her fuzzie and left it there for 10 minutes until i was about to take it away and then decided to eat it. sometimes they just do weird things, try not to stress!

let us know how it goes when you try to feed him :D
