Correct on the first picture.
The second one is a nymph and difficult to id .... could be dubia as well.

for addition: roach on the second pics is a nymph yes, but almost as big as the adult dubia on the first pics, and got much harder cithin shell...

Those are what I have. I just was told they were male and female Dubias.. the female being smooth, male having wings. Is this not correct? He said there MAY be some "Lobster" roaches in my setup? But whatever those are are whats mating in my tank.

Okay, the left is a dubia, the right is a Lobster? I checked close and found those in my tank. I also found the Dubia females and upon closer inspection, the males look the same but have small wings on their backs, unlike the pic on the right where they are full on wings. I have seen the one on the right mate with the one on the left in my tank..so what would that produce?

(and this is strictly about the first pic, I didnt even see the second one)

Whats the tail thing coming out of the female in the first pic? My females look like the second pic and males look like the male in first pic. I'm confused I was told they were all Dubias.

the tail is her egg sac. it will once in a while protrude. She is able to put it back in.
yours will have them too when they are sexually mature.

Dod: Do they only protrude the eggsac if pregnant? I saw a female with this awhile back..I took pics. I just assumed she was expanding for space since they dont TECHNICALLY give live birth...

There are no pictures of a lobster roach on this thread.
I have heard contradictory explanations as to why the females ootheca protrudes for a period of time. One theory is to "dry it out".
For whatever reason, it is only for a short time and then it is retracted to incubate inside the female.
Fully matured male B. dubia have completely realized wings, females and nymphs have the wing stubs.
I cannot accurately tell you at this point how many times this species sheds it's skin before reaching adult stage (6 or 7 is my guess without checking)
Once the animal is an adult it will not shed again.

IMO the pair in the photo is a pair of adult male and female Dubia. The second picture looks like a Dubia as well.

Amanda, if you have Lobsters, I hope you have some way of keeping them in the tank other than a lid........

Kev: I have NO clue. i bought it from a guy in town. he said there were both Dubias and Lobsters. I have found 2 of the males with the full on wings outside of the tank. The tank has a screened lid. Maybe I should look of Lobsters and see what Im dealing with. Im so confused!

The reason the roach in the single photo has spots is because it most likely shed recently and is starting to fill in its shell.

To those who have never seen it.... Dubia that are all white have just shed. They are very very soft. Chams who are a bit picky about roaches might be more interested if offered at this stage. It is by far the best time to feed your cham a Dubia, easy to digest.

CRUD!! Hmph. I didnt get a PM and I deleted your # when Elisa gave it to me when I cleared my inbox..Oopsie.:(

I looked at pics online and I dont see anything in my tank that resembles what the lobster supposedly looks like. Mine only look like the ones pictured at the beg of this thread.. They guy said there "might" be.. so maybe I lucked out?

If you are keeping them in an aquarium, they can climb up the silicone in the corners (particularly the males).
If you only have B. dubia there is no fear if infestation, even if some do escape.

Yea Kev told me that. Ive NEVER seen any climb the walls..and they dont look like "crickets" as he put. Like I said, they are identical to the first pic posted.
