Hi all,

Just thought id try hold back the tears and let you all know that my beautiful ambilobe, George, passed away today after an op to try fix a hemipenal prolapse.:( I guess he was too stressed by the procedure and passed away last night in his sleep. I didnt realise it would be so upsetting. I was told it might happen but i didnt honestly think it would so i was totally unprepared.

He was an amazing cham, real friendly and loved to come out his cage and sit on my shoulder while i posted on here. He was a totally calm cham and not aggressive at all. He will be greatly missed by all the family and i just hope theres a chameleon heaven waiting for him.

Goodbye George, you were loved from the minute i brought you home.:(

I am so sorry to hear about George. My heart goes out to you. It's always hard to loose a beloved friend.

im so sorry for your loss :(. Id like to breed charlie in the furute so i can raise one of his many sons and continue his legacy when he passes :)

I am so sorry you lost George. :( Chams are so special and you don't realise quite how attached you are to them until they are gone. When my first female died it hit me far more that I was expecting it to, even though I had realised that she wouldn't be around for much longer once she showed signs of illness. The hurt does ease eventually and you will have plenty of happy memories to remember George by. Thinking of you, Tiff.

Thank you all so much for your kind words.

Ive got over the initial shock of it now but its still dissapointing to think that if id acted sooner he may of lived. I feel responsible for his death. I noticed his prolapse weeks ago and took him straight to the vet who used stitches to hold things in place. then about 2 weeks ago i noticed it was starting to happen again but i stupidly thought it would be ok to leave it for a bit and see if the problem went away, which it didnt and got infected. Ill be a lot more careful in future with Johnny and may even buy another Cham in the near future now i have an empty cage. No cham could replace George though.

Thank you all again. The last pic I took of him is in my thread, My Ankaramy in General discussion. He was just 1 year old.

Sorry for your loss :( RIP George Hope you have a great time in the huge chameleon cage in the sky with all the giant gutload crickets you can eat :)

Im so sorry to hear that.

If there is a chameleon heaven, Im sure he'kk get a really nice tree and all the lady-friend chams he could ever want.

Sorry for your loss. It always sucks to lose one. At least you got your Ank to spoil and help you get over it. How long post op did he live btw. I would have thought since he made it through the procedure he would've had a better than 50/50 shot of making it. Sorry bro.

hi Texas Panther Man. Thanks for the Kind words. He lived for 2 days after the op but I he was ill when i brought him home, wouldnt eat/drink and seemed generally weak. didnt move around his cage at all until i found him curled up at the bottom. The vet said he wasnt well and gave me antibiotics for the infection but i think the stress on top of the infection is what killed him. I reccommend for anyone reading this not to hesetate, if you notice a prolapse take your cham straight to the vet before infection sets in. Thank you again guys n girls.
