RIP Bonzo

I never shared him on here before. I came across some pics of him, I had forgotten how beautiful he was. He was sired by Tranquillo from Jose (Pemex), coming from Chameleon Company's Zeppo.

Sorry about your loss.
If you dont mind me asking, how did he die?

I kept him outside most of the summer. Then he ended up at the bottom of his cage really dark and not moving. Took him to the vet, and he could not figure out what was wrong, gave him some medication (antibiotics and calcium), but my best guess would be harmful insects getting in his cage. We later realized we had tons of lady bugs in our back yard, i think some got in his enclosure. Since then, I have done many changes to how I keep chameleons, and because of that, I have learned a lot more. Very sad he had to go. He was around 14 months old.

Sorry about your cham. He was a beauty for sure. So the lady bugs are poisonous then or something? I put my cham outside alot in a large cage that has chicken wire. That is the only downside of the cage cause it is big and great for sunning. I worry about stuff getting in there. A big bee flew in there and I was able to get it out before he saw it and tried to eat it. I don't sit out there every mintue with him so there can be things he has eaten that I wouldn't know about. I guess you really don't know the cause of death then for sure, but are just speculating then?

Yes. Could have been parasites from being outside also. I was told that ladybugs were toxic.....but I'm not sure.

thank you very much

OK, I'm a noob (as I've said many times so far) but I have been doing TONS of research on chams over the past few weeks in anticipation of getting one eventually.

I'm still not that good though when it comes to recognizing exactly what kind of cham each one is through pics.

But I'll give this one a shot. Was Bonzo a ambilobe blue bar? (crosses fingers)

he was a beautiful cham, but i bet he only came out so beautful by the love and care you gave him...u should b proud to made his life so happy, which i feel u did....he died knowing he lived a happy and fulfilled life....thats wat i believe at least.....

Thanks my friend. He truly is missed.

OK, thanks guys. I'll be here awhile picking all your guys' brains, asking tons of questions if you all don't mind.

I just wanna be on top of things before I make the move to get my cham.
