Hey Guys,

Thought I would introduce myself, having recently got back into Chameleon keeping. I have never kept dead leaf/ground Chameleons before, and when I found some Rieppeleon brevicaudatus for sale I couldn't resist! They arrived yesterday, and I still can't get over how tiny they are. They seem very healthy and are active little hunters. I am looking to breed them, and my only concern is that I was told they would be adults, though the female only just measures 2". The male is about the same size and looks large enough to be an adult, with a very pretty colouration. Anyone have any thoughts?

Anyway, here are some photos!

They are surprisingly tiny when you first see them. And as for the breeding just keep them together (provided he doesn't pester her nonstop) and you should have eggs in the not-too-distant future. Congrats!

They are definitely ready to breed at that size. I believe they are capable of breeding at 3 months and up, someone correct me if i'm wrong.
They look great, I am very excited for you!

Haha, thanks guys! Compared to the beast of a Yemen I used to keep these guys just seem so minute. I read the females can reach up to 3", which is why I questioned her maturity. I am so excited about breeding them. The male seems to be fine around her at the moment, though I noticed every now again when he's a branch or two away she'll develop a few black spots and her overall patterns enhance. Could this be her telling him she's not ready to mate yet?

Cheers,
Chris

It could be, but I'm not too familiar with pygmies... Though I would suggest getting your hand on another female so the male isn't constantly trying to get the one female to mate with him all the time. It'd make for a happier family :)
