RI?

As I was TRYING to get Stormy on my arm with a wax worm (didn’t work by the way) he gaped. Not sure if it was at me, or because he was in the basking spot, or what, but then I faintly heard a high pitched whistle like sound?? Is this normal when they gape or not?? I’m concerned he has RI. Any insight greatly appreciated.

They will hiss and gape at you when they want you to back off. Keep an eye on it... it could have been that you were there attempting to get him out if your hand was in the cage.

Signs of RI are wheezing, sitting gaping when temps are perfect, holding nose up extending the gular to breathe easier, stringy saliva in in the mouth.

Ok thanks. I’ll keep an eye on it.

Not stringy saliva, which is common after drinking, but bubbly or foamy saliva, at first showing at the corners of the mouth. Everything else you said is on the money

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to correct my feedback. So more like bubbles or foam. Does this progress as the RI worsens? Or is it mainly in the corners of the mouth?
