RI turn arounds...

So my little Pascal has started meds for a RI. My fiance just watches him take him deep breathes and is pretty worried. Positive turn around stories ?

I've had several, everyone has turned around nicely within a few days. Chameleons take a long time to heal but generally after 3-5 days on meds you notice a big improvement and it'll finally disapear a few weeks later. Little Pascal will start breathing easier after a couple days of meds, you'll see. You can (if you haven't done so already) raise his basking spot temp a little bit so that it works to kick up his metabolism and fight the infection faster. Something like 3-5 degrees is enough, you don't have to roast him.

I have a Meller's who came to me with a pretty severe RI, you could hear her gurgle and rasp as she breathed from across the room. 3 days into her antibiotic the sounds were gone and she was breathing much better.

So his medication is almost done and he is still resting his eyes a lot and taking forceful breathes; not as much as he was though

That's something I would run by his vet. Whatever he has many not be Baytril (or whatever med) sensitive, and the vet might decide to run a sensitivity test to see if you need to switch to a different medication.

Or maybe there's something else going on that has gone unnoticed, but I'd give your vet a call to discuss it.

Well I'm waiting for the vet to call back. The bottle says twice a day for 14 days and I only have enough for 7. So they may have to give me another weeks worth ... Soo hopefully it will work out and he is only half way thru the meds
