Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - I have had my male veiled chameleon for not even a day. Just got him this afternoon

Handling - Once, to hear his breathing.

Feeding - Feeding crickets. I have given him about 20 and from what I can tell he has eaten 10 already.

Supplements - I plan to feed every day about 10-20 crickets. I use
Reptivite multivitamin dust with D3 once a week and Zoo med Repti Calcium without D3 every other day.

Watering - I am using a drip system and mist a couple of times a day

Fecal Description - He pooped today and it looked normal to me. Normal consistency and color.

History -Not really, I got him from a breeder at a reptile show today.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Full Screen Zilla Fresh Air Habitat. 18 x 12 x 20

Lighting - Both heat and UV lights are on a 12 hour schedule. Sunglow day light and a zilla UV bar.

Temperature - Not sure of the overnight temperatures just yet, as the lights went off about an hour ago. Today the gradient was about 78-90, with a basking of 95-100.

Humidity - Humidity was sitting at about 40-50%

Plants - A live ficus plant.

Placement - It is currently on the ground (it will be moved as soon as I can get some help to move other terrariums.) Its in a low traffic area not near any fans or vents.

Location - Canada, Alberta

Current Problem - I am very worried he has a respiratory infection. When I picked him out he seemed 100% fine. When we were driving him he was fine too. I noticed when I set him up in his tank that he had some foam near the back corners of his mouth. I fed him and he ate quite a bit, and he seemed active and happy. I tried listening to his breathing and I heard a slightly funny noise.

Can anyone give me a rough estimate of how much the average exotic vet would charge to see him and give him medicine?

If you bought him from one of the chain store i believe they have a health guarantee see if they will pay for a vet.

I got him from a breeder, they said they have a 2 week health guarantee so I am going to email her tomorrow if things don't improve tonight and tell her my problems and see what she can do as well.

I hope so, I am so disappointed about my little guy. I don't want him to die but its too late to go to a vet tonight...

I will move the basking light away slightly as right now it is just sitting on top the mesh.

The only symptom I can for sure is the saliva in the corner of his mouth. I think I heard him make a noise at one point tonight when I was worried about him so I took him gently just barely out of his cage so I could listen to his breathing. I thought I heard something slightly off and when I put him back on a branch he made a funny noise, but I have never owned a chameleon before so I don't know if he was mad or hissed at me lol.

He is sleeping soundly right now and his breathing is normal from what I can tell.

Also I have moved his enclosure off the ground now so he probably feels a lot safer.

I will try to get a picture in the morning of his mouth as right now I want to leave him rest as it has been a stressful day for him.

its possible that he can just be dehydrated my cham did the same thing and i was freaking out thinking he had an RI. just make sure he gets enough water. if he does have an RI though i was told its good to keep the heat up a little higher and if possible bring him out in the sun.
