Return Policy ?

Should there be a return policy on a chameleon bought from a breeder on this forum ? I had one overnight shipped & seemed good for 2 days & then he stopped eating & is now showing signs of RI. I've had him 1 week today & just debating about what to do. I left a message for the seller & I am waiting for a call back. Can anyone give feedback if they've had this experience ? Thanks......Joe

Usually there is a health guarantee of 5-7 days on average. If its a sponsor I am sure they will work with you.

First and foremost make sure sure everything on your side is good. Like proper housing temps and feeding etc.If not cared for correctly these animals may not eat plus they are sensitive so make sure you have everything correct in your habitat to consider a refund. Then also maybe the chameleon is just getting situated remember this is a animal that just went from some place to some other place with new people around he may still be trying to get situated to his new home other than that I don't know ask the breeder you got it from about their return policy. Next time do that before hand I suppose before a purchase.

5-7 days is ridiculous unless you're buying from a breeder that sells them cheap.

I strongly agree it should be at least 2 weeks. These are living animals and anything can happen in the first whatever days... Prolapse sucks the most because it isn't easy to solve. I bought a WC female Nosy Mitsio from my friend who runs a serious company... ;) He is one of our sponsors and he took her back after I got her fixed.

Most breeders are cool with returns, but some just continue to question after question about why ship it back to me instead of what to do to help it... :(

PM me who you bought him from? Just curious!!! ;)

So you are calling my policy ridiculous. I give nothing more than a live arrival on a WC and 7 days on CB. I sell high quality animals and have never had a chameleon die I have sent out.

So want to rephrase your stupid comment? That was directed at my responce.

FYI - the 5-7 days is to protect the seller and the buyer. If it dies after that it is up to the seller to decide what they would like to do. I have helped people take an animal to the vet by sharing cost etc months after they have had it.

If someone goes away for a week and comes home to a dead Chameleon it is not the sellers problem. It happens. It says nothing about the quality of the animal or the level of service. I for one do not want to send an animal to its death a second time because someone cannot take care of something properly. Caution has to be there. I think of the animal first .

I've never seen a 2 week health guarrantee for any animal! 5-7 days is pretty standard. If someone only offered 1-3 days THAT would be cheap.

2 weeks is a good number thats up to the seller. Personally I set the TOS to protect myself at 7 days. As I mentioned before I would help way beyond but if I need to fall back on my TOS because the buyer is wrong for whatever reason it is there to protect me and my animals. I think most breeders would agree that the TOS is there but it is very flexible when it comes to making the customer happy.
