I know this is sort of OT but urgent. My blotchie (Uta stansburiana)died this morning :( and I don't have the stomach to retrieve her eggs (no time for details on what happened to her right now) but will be to vet tomorrow. I put her in fridge, but now I am thinking that I should be giving heat in order to keep eggs alive??

please advise ASAP.

thanks,
lele

It is a dilema lele...the cooling may have caused the eggs to die....but I doubt anyone knows for sure. There may also be a time "limit" on how long the eggs will remain good while in the body.

Good luck with them! All you can do is try!

I just sent you an email. I hope I didn't kill them, too. My cat got to her, but it was my fault. She was doing fine so I was quite surprised to see her dead this morning. She was in the fridge for about 3 hours. This has really sucked. I have her on a heating pad. I don't think I have anything sharp enough to do it myself and I would probably slice an egg anyway.

This activity is not for the squeamish especially if it was a long time pet. You can use a razor making a vertical incision down the belly just breaking the skin. Then move the organs to the side and you should see a sac filled with eggs. Gently rupture the sac and remove the eggs.

Wow.. I am so sorry to hear that lele... I can imagine how you feel. I would say that if the Vet is not responding, If you can bring yourself to it, I would try what Dean has said.

Hopefully the little ones make it.

Any luck? Did you try what Dean suggested? Wer're sorry for your loss and hope everything works out for you

Lele,
They won't make it. Once the female dies, the eggs will suffocate if not removed quickly. Worth a shot but I wouldn't hold you breath, so to speak.
