Rescue

Going through the adoption process to get a leopard gecko from a local rescue but I’ve found that the rescued care requirements are super outdated. I’m just trying to give this little gecko and good home but these people are being very strict 😭 it wouldn’t be so bad if their care guide was actually decent and up to date

I would think you’d be exceeding the old care requirements with the latest husbandry standards.
Honestly at this point I’m just pretending to go with what they say so I can grab the gecko and then change it all later.

They’ve asked me not to use any overhead lighting and to use reptile carpet 😭 I just smile and nod but there’s no way I’m doing that.

I can kind of understand the ReptiCarpet…much better than the dratted calci sand. I don’t understand the overhead lighting though. Yes, just smile and nod. 😂

I hope you’ll post some pics of her. Leopard geckos are such beautiful and completely under rated animals.

Here’s the pic the adoption place has on their page. She was born with a spinal deformity (probably from inbreeding)

I think she’s so cute! She’s only a year old and she’s been with this rescue for 6 months of her life. They said her deformity doesn’t appear to cause her any pain, but she does need help catching bugs and getting shed off her toes
