reptiglo 5.0

Safe for?

They are OK to use on chameleons.... But Zoo Med linear lamps are better.

yes for chameleons...so they dont cause any type of health issues???just wondering in case my repti sun 5.0 goes out or gets too old because the only place i can get a repti sun 5.0 is on line and i can use the repti glo 5.0 in the mean while...how often should i change my linear bulb???

if you are using a Zoo Med Repti Sun 5.0... change it after 6 months. You aren't all that far from me... or the SBCK meetings.... you could bring your lamp to a meeting, or my place and have your lamp tested. I and a couple of people that go to the SBCK meetings have UVB meters. If the Repti Sun is working correctly, after 6 months it'll be time to change. But you might even be able to go a bit longer (7 or 8 months).

In my experience.... the Zoo Med lamps don't burn out very easily.

It's odd... I am using an ExoZone unit to dim the lamps on a couple of cages... and the GE 6500K lamps I use with my Zoo Med UVB lamps have been burning out while the zoo med lamps work just fine. I have changed two 6500K GE lamps and zero zoo med lamps. This isn't very critical info to your use.... BUT it does say 'they last better than other lamps'

the ecozone is basically a computer... it does a lot of stuff.... lol but it can dim lights... to control temp or simulate sun rise and sunset.

Shoot an Email to Dave Weldon so he can add you to the email list he sends out every month. He gives directions to the location and announces anything special happening at the meeting. He also sends out my bug ordering sheet so you can pre-order bugs. :)

I am envious of you living close enough to attend the SBCK meetings. There is a lot off collective chameleon experience in that group.
