Reptaid Dosages

well if you can bring him to a vet they can weigh him for you, it would be a tech appointment. Then, you would either get the under 250g one or the over 250g one. My veiled is 70g so I bought the under 250g one and the dosage is .1cc per 100g.

Yeah, I just looked up some weights for adult Panthers and it seems some can be just under or over the 250g mark, so it's not necessarily a definitive answer. Is the difference between the two Reptaids (normal or XL) the strength of the formula? I'll see if I can find a scale locally to buy tomorrow to check his weight.

I do not know but I would not mess with it. You don't want to hurt your cham if it is stronger.

It would be best if you could get/borrow a gram scale, I am not sure Reptaid would be harmful on an overdose, but you can never be too safe. There are quite a few people from Canada on the forums that could be in your area (then again Ontario is a big place!

its highly unlikely an adult male panther would weight less than 100grams, so you can dose him at that level (which would be 1cc daily for a week, I think) without any concerns. He's likely closer to 200grams.

i dont know about where you live cause all states are different, but in washington they got these smoke shops all over. theyre not just tobbaco places, they also sell crack&weed pipes (and scales), there are several around my town that have a huge selection of digital scales from $12-$50, i got a really nice 500g. capacity digi-weigh for $20 ps no i wasnt in there buying a crack pipe

Michael: I have used Reptaid a number of times on chams that are healthy as an ox. Because of the extremes in weather that we have here (Chicago), I generally use it as kind of a "booster" when we are changing from Summer to Winter or vice versa (we basically don't have any Fall or Spring here). My chams used to get a slight respiratory thing going during those times and none since we have used the Reptaid in that fashion.
Chanel: Your dosage will depend on the weight of whatever you are using it on so yes, you will need to weigh it. You can actually go to anywhere that sells food scales - that what I use and they are relatively inexpensive even for a nice digital one.

Yeah, I'm going to head out very soon and try places like Canadian Tire, Walmart, etc. until I can find a good gram scale that will do the job. When I get home and get him weighed, I'll order the right Reptaid.
Does anyone else who lives in a place where the cold Winter doesn't allow you to take out your Panther find that they appear depressed? I'm not worried about my husbandry at all, as it hasn't changed in two years and he's been excellent, but he just likes to sit at the side of his cage where he can see out the window and just stare all day. He's still healthy and eating/drinking/crapping fine, he just doesn't seem himself and his colour is a little duller than usual. I'm hoping this Reptaid stuff will perk him up

My adult panther has been dull and ashy looking for about a month. I thought he was going to shed but hasn't. I'm thinking that they are bummed that it is winter, just like me, not much energy and the days are so short. Maybe they go into a semi-hybernation period. JMO

Well I just got back from Canadian Tire, and I couldn't be happier! I went in to grab a food scale, and they had a decent one there that reads down to 1.0g that was advertised at $29.99. I took it up to the counter, and when the girl rang it in it was only $12 with tax. Needless to say I got out of there quickly incase it was just a mistake, as there were no sale signs and I didn't see it in the flyer! Got home and weighed my boy and he's at 192g right now at a year and a half old. I'll read up some more reviews on Reptaid then purchase some later tonight once I've finished my research.

I've found my chameleons are a little less active in the winter and go to sleep earlier, even though they are indoor only animals. I assume this is a mild burmation type thing. I adjust lighting and feeding accordingly.
Reptaid proves useful for encouraging good sheds and perking up a fella that was slow to recover from some pinworms and skin issues.
I give it to the other healthy animals now and then, mostly because I have the product and it will eventually go bad if I dont use it up. It certainly hasnt done any harm.
