Replaced a plant and low and behold!

OK all you brev lovers or should I say pygs. As you know the plants have a tendency to die if not exactly the right ones for low level lighting. Anyway, I have had my little guys for 1 month now and am happy as a clam (are clams happy???) with them. So, in order to keep their habitat nice for them I decided to take out the dead plant and replace it. When I pulled out the dead plant guess what I found, your right, EGGS! 3 beautiful little tic tacs that look like they have been very happy in their underground nest for a little while. They are nice and plump.

As I said before I plan to let sleeping dogs lie - ah, laid eggs lie - (man, too much coffee this morning), so after replacing the plant I carefully put the eggs back where they were. I was careful not to juggle them, turn them, flip them (they are way too small to have for breakfast) and covered them loosely with the same amount of dirt. They were only buried about 1/2" down.

Now, here comes my question. If and when they hatch do I need to remove them and care for them in any way? Dad and Moms are eating 1/4" crickets (they aren't interested in fruit flies any more). I can throw in fruit flies for the babies if that's what they eat or I can give them pins.

BTW, pins are a project underway right now. So many people have mentioned they grow crickets I thought heck, I raise everything else, why not little crickets for my babies. When I order them they always come in 1/2 dead so this will be way better for me.

Well, better go have another cup of coffee. LOL I hope some of you pyg breeders will clue me in. I just adore these little guys and don't want to harm them because of something stupid I do.

YAY Naomi thats really cool!!!! congrats. We just did the same thing in our enclosure but found 9 eggs. :D

When my brevs hatch , I keep them in a small tub like I do other chameleons for a month or so and feed them 1/8' crickets or fruit flies. Then I move them into the adults enclosure. This has worked out really well for me.

SLOW DOWN ON THE COFFEE :D

Since I only have a 10 gallon tank I guess I need to get another one for my expanded family. I have a huge 50 gallon tank I'm not using, but I guess that's just a bit too big! LOL It was supposed to be for my snake.

I really get great information on this forum, even though I'm way past the "help, the skin is falling off my cham" questions. LOL Is there a special place for just breeders? Yes, I would be happy to do some swapping when the time comes. First I have to make sure I successfully raise a clutch or two before I send a baby off in the mail.

I have some of the large cricket keepers and they will be my brev nurseries. I have all the goodies for keeping it clean although I guess I will need some more spring tails and isopods unless someone out there has more then then need.
