Yeah I be thinking the same. That's why I always walk out every 2 minutes just to make sure there ain't anything looking around. Well besides the stupid ducks everywhere. Lol

Chameleons are incredibly stealthy. It only takes seconds for them to hide. I know several sad stories of lost chameleons.
Consider some kind of enclosure.

The chameleon will just be on the tree anyway. You'd have a little piece of mind just getting an open air cage for the tree and chameleon.
