Refrigerating silkworm eggs

Just bought 1000 silkworm eggs. I dont want to hatch 1000 at once. How can I store the rest? I dont think they were kept cold before I bought them and they certainly havent been for the last 8 hours.

refrigerate them on the most bottom door to induce diapause.

Is that refrigeration period necessary? I had about 60 moths make a ton of eggs for me a few weeks ago and I've read conflicting information on whether o not I have to put them in the fridge for a while before they'll ever hatch. I'd rather not if I don't have to... how long do they take to hatch?

i have heard that inducing fake winter (refrigeration) is necessary for your silkworm eggs. Or else, they won't hatch or took longer to hatch.
