Reducing foliage, advantage?

My 3 month old velied is terrefied of me, as I did expect. But now that I have found a funky smell in her enclosure Im certained that it is dead crix behind the background that is providing that awfull smell. Need to clean out the whole cage but I can never even get close to my little cham before she runs away and down the foliage. Ive tried using a vine, tried using treats but nothing works. She will hide until I leave the room. And I have built the cage in a way that I cant remove anything without tearing the whole thing apart and dont want my cham to be in there while that i happening.

When I succed with getting her out im thinking of reducing the foliage lots! So that this process will be much more simple. Currently got one medium Pothos haning from the roof and a medium benjamina ficus and a dracena in there. What do you think? Will she be fine with juist the ficus and the pothos? Maybe she will get more used to me if she cant hide so much all the time since Im only in the room a couple hours a day.

In my opinion: yes she will be fine if you take out one plant.
You could even out dowels and fake vines in the cage so that she has more places to crawl around on but she also more visible to you

So maybe a trip to the woods and make sure she got loads of vines to climb around on and remove one plant? If she were on a vine it would be much more easy to get her out than when she is in the bush! Or did I get you wrong?

I wouldn't use branches from outside to be honest it can have bacteria on it that wouldn't be good for a Cham. Unfortunately I get mine from Petco or try pet mountain.com!

You can absolutely use branches from outside! It's better to cut branches straight from trees though, that way they are fresher. Branches that have fallen have usually been on the ground a while and may have begun to decay (or they were sickly branches to begin with and that's why the tree dropped them.) But fresh branches will usually not have any decay or significant bug precence.

Once you have them you can always wash them well and/or bake them depending on their size to kill anything. I don't do anything to mine but you can if it makes you nervous.

And I think she should do fine as long as she does have some areas of thicker cover, especially if she's a nervous little chameleon.

She IS one nervous cham ^^. That is what Im trying to work against by making sure she sees me more often.
Im thinking of having one side of the cage really foliaged from bottom to top and the otherside a bit lighter? Good?`
